Superior Plumbing presents 2018 North Georgia State Fair

What:                   86th Annual Superior Plumbing North Georgia State Fair

When:                   Thursday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, September 30, 2018

Times:                   Monday through Thursday 4 to 11 p.m., Fridays 4 p.m. to midnight

                              Saturdays 10 a.m., to midnight, and Sundays 12:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Where:                 Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road S.W., Marietta, Georgia 30008

Directions: Take I-75 to Windy Hill Rd. ( Exit #260 ). Go west approximately five miles on Windy Hill Rd. and turn right on Austell Road. Turn left on County Services Parkway then left on Al Bishop Dr.  Jim R Miller Park will be on your left.

Background: As the largest fair in metro Atlanta, the Superior Plumbing North Georgia State Fair attracts 300,000 people every year from north Georgia and neighboring states. The Superior Plumbing North Georgia State Fair features live music, free attractions and shows, farm animals, flower shows, blue ribbon competitions, local entertainment, and delicious fair foods.  There are also games and rides on the Great James H. Drew Exposition midway– one of the largest carnival midways in the United States, featuring the Wildcat Rollercoaster, Georgia Mountain Lift and the Mega Slide.

Free Concerts: A covered arena guarantees concerts rain or shine, including appearances by great country and contemporary Christian artists. Headlining the Concert Series this year are: Crowder on Friday, September 21; Dylan Scott on Saturday, September 22; Colt Ford on Wednesday, September 26; Easton Corbin on Thursday, September 27; Montgomery Gentry on Friday, September 28; Riley Green on Saturday, September 29.  Concerts FREE with fair admission.

New for 2018:

Human Cannonball: David Smith is a 2nd generation “Human Cannonball”.  He has wowed audiences all over the world, shooting from his cannon and flying high above the midway.  David will be performing this death defying feat several times a day throughout the fair.

Robo-Cars: One of the most unique and entertaining acts you will see. These real life Transformers will be cruising, dancing, and transforming daily

                  Balloonopolis: Come watch as a team of balloon crafters builds a life-size carousel completely out of balloons.  Starting before opening day, the team will be working daily and completing their masterpiece the final weekend of the fair. The carousel will be the centerpiece of our brand new 40,000 square foot exhibit hall.

                  Exhibit Hall: We are so excited to debut our brand new 40,000 square foot exhibit hall this year.  This state of the art space will house commercial and non-commercial exhibits, the ever-popular flower show, and a life-size carousel made entirely of balloons.

                  Drew Exposition: The Great James H. Drew Exposition is even greater this year with the addition of TWO new rides.  The Matterhorn and the New York Taxi Cab Bumper Cars will be making their debut at this year’s fair.

                  New Foods: Several new food vendors will be joining the fair this year, bringing new and exciting food experiences along!!  A few of the new samplings are, pork chops on a stick, Mexican street corn, gourmet Tater-tots, Dippin’ Dots, tropical drinks, and grilled potatoes.

                  King and Queen of the Fair: We are so excited to announce the addition of a new special needs beauty pageant.  This wonderful event will coincide with Special Populations Night on Tuesday, September 25. 7:30 pm.

Returning in 2018:

Olympic High Dive Show– Big splashes in a small pool! In addition to comedy dives, this show features Olympic-style dives, a high dive and a fire dive! Parents and kids of all ages will watch in amazement. 

Treeman and Cowboy Woody– the phenomenon known as the Walking TreeMan! Barely distinguishable from the real trees, Walking TreeMan moves slowly and deliberately down the street, enchanting all that meet him. At over 12 feet tall, TreeMan can be seen from 150 yards away! Keep your eyes peeled also for someone dressed as Woody from Toy Story…only he’s 10 feet tall! He will be performing amazing lasso tricks to entertain the fair goers of all ages!

Robinson’s Racing Pigs & Paddling Porkers – Come cheer on the funniest racing experience ever! Pig racing gets even better when celebrities like Britney Spareribs and Lindsay Slowham are vying for the coveted Oreo prize. These porkers will race and swim straight to the top of your most fun list!

Lady Houdini– Kristen Johnson is no “lovely” magician’s assistant. She’s Lady Houdini, an escape artist who has successfully performed thousands of public feats and broken Harry Houdini’s record for the most water escapes ever. She is currently the only female anywhere in the world attempting the water torture cell.

Peter Hart, Atlanta Puppet– Atlanta Puppet featuring marionettes and other puppetry styles with master Puppeteer Peter Hart.

Eudora Farms Exotic Petting Zoo– Experience an interactive, hands-on exotic animal petting zoo. It includes 20 to 25 rare and exotic animals from around the world. See a wallaby, a zebra, a lemur and have a chance to ride a camel. This is an experience the whole family won’t soon forget.

Brian Ruth “Master of the Chainsaw” – Will be back to transform raw logs into true works of art with only a chainsaw.

North Georgia Animals Petting Barn – at the south entrance of the fairgrounds provides a fun and educational experience for children and adults alike. Some of the animals that will be on hand include chickens, goats, cows, rabbits, llamas and much more! Pony rides too! Other long-time traditions will continue, including sanctioned flower shows, non-commercial exhibits, and more than 40 amusement rides and games courtesy of the Great James H. Drew Exposition.

Gate Admission: $7.00 admission. Children 10 and under are free. Ride tickets are $1.25 each, $20.00 for 21 tickets, $50.00 for 55 tickets and $100 for 120 tickets. All rides require more than one ticket. Parking is $5.  Concerts FREE with fair admission. ATM machines are located throughout the fairgrounds.

            $30.00 Pay-One-Price Ride Specials – on Saturdays, 9/22 and 9/29 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (good till close)
