The Strand is excited to present a special screening of “Gone With the Wind” in partnership with The Gone With the Wind Museum on Sunday, May 3rd at 2PM. This screening will feature a Gone with the Wind Museum display in the Strand lobby.

Released in 1939, Gone with the Wind is an epic historical romance set against the sweeping backdrop of the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. The film follows the fiery and determined Scarlett O’Hara, the headstrong daughter of a Georgia plantation owner, as she navigates love, loss, and survival in a world turned upside down by war.

Obsessed with the charming Ashley Wilkes yet constantly challenged by the roguish and unpredictable Rhett Butler, Scarlett’s journey is one of resilience and reinvention. As Atlanta burns and the Old South crumbles, she fights to protect her family’s land, Tara, vowing never to go hungry again.

Lavish, dramatic, and emotionally charged, Gone with the Wind blends romance and tragedy with sweeping cinematography and unforgettable performances. It remains one of classic Hollywood’s most iconic films, remembered for its grand scale, complex heroine, and timeless portrayal of love and ambition in a changing world.
