elf on the shelf

Did you know the Southern Branch of the North Pole is located right here in Cobb? As the birthplace of Elf on the Shelf and Elf Pets, Cobb County ,GA is Atlanta’s Sweet Spot for holiday cheer! So we reached out to Santa’s top helper, Christa Pitts, to get her recommendations for where to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list this year.

As Co-CEO and Co-Founder of The Lumistella Company, home of The Elf on the Shelf and Elf Pets brands, Christa knows a thing or two about Christmas and holiday shopping. “Our family has long-standing ties to Cobb, as I was born and raised in the area, and our company is based here,” said Christa. “In essence, Cobb is the southernmost branch of The North Pole.”

Where is your preferred spot to purchase unique home décor gifts during the holiday season?

White Rabbit Cottage.  It’s located in West Cobb near where I grew up.  Years ago, it was an antique store, and they have morphed the company into a charming boutique go-to for home décor and accessories.  It’s everything you look for while shopping locally.  Really unique finds, beautiful furnishings, and a charming atmosphere.  I love their candles, so be sure to stock up!” – Christa

Where is your preferred spot to purchase clothes in Cobb?

Hand in Pocket in Vinings.  They sell everything from sweaters, to jeans, to dresses and jackets.  It’s a boutique, so you are guaranteed friendly, top-notch service.  I absolutely love the Checkmate Jacket.  In a classic black and winter white check pattern, it is perfect with a pair of jeans and heels or a sophisticated addition to simple black dress.”- Christa

Is there a toy shop in Cobb that you would recommend?

“It’s hard to find great toy stores anymore, but you can always depend on a Learning Express.  They are locally owned and operated, with the types of toys you can’t find in mass retailers.  There is a very nice one on Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb.” – Christa

Where is your favorite spot in Cobb to pick up holiday treats?

“You MUST try anything from Elizabeth’s Delightful Edibles on Due West Road in West Cobb.  The hot chocolate bombs are truly the bomb!  They make a great hostess gift and, on a cold, holiday night just one sip of cocoa mined from those bombs embodies the joy of Christmas-in-a-cup.” – Christa

Is there any other holiday shopping spot around Cobb that is a must-visit?

“If you are in Cobb County and you have a big appetite, be sure to grab a meal at the Marietta Diner on Cobb Parkway.  Unfortunately, my dad has passed away, but this was his absolute favorite spot and for good reason.  It’s open 24 hours, has delicious food, huge portions, and the biggest range of dessert options in town.  Don’t miss it!” – Christa
